Keyloggers

Keyloggers is malicious software that is installed by attackers on victims’ machines  without him or her ever knowing. Its sole job is to capture keystrokes. Once on your system its sole job is to capture keystrokes and remain undetectable.

It records the passwords, credit card numbers you type, the web pages you visit and other activity – all by logging your keyboard strokes. The malicious program when present on your computer,  records everything you type. Then it sends this recorded data to a server, where cybercriminals wait to make use of all this sensitive information.

How Keyloggers enter your system

Keyloggers drop or get installed on your system while you are surfing file sharing websites, free software downloads and sent embedded with attachments in phishing emails. This way a keylogger can infiltrate your “safe” computer.

How to detect as well as remove Keylogger and other security tips –

  • Use a powerful and next-gen antivirus and internet security suite that can keep your personal computer safe from advanced and evolved cyberattacks and identify and remove malicious software for you.
  • Don’t download files from unknown & untrusted websites.
  • While entering password info on banking sites, use a virtual keyboard; in fact, use a virtual keyboard wherever possible.
  • Use a password manager, as the manager will automatically enter the password, making keystrokes redundant (no keystroke, no keystroke logging)
